1. Vegan Cranberry Orange Bread With Sweet Orange Glaze
I’ve never been one for cranberry sauce (much to my mother’s chagrin) but cranberry bread? Sign me up! Plus, getting oranges in your stocking at Christmastime is supposedly good luck… so why not try making this bread to have something that tastes good too?
2. Butter Tart Waffles
I LOVE butter tarts — how much more Canadian can you get? — so the second I saw this recipe, I knew I had to try it!
3. Gingerbread Pancakes
This is the recipe that inspired this post! When I made it, I added slightly less sugar, a little more ginger, and some cloves just for that extra hint of spice. Regardless of how you choose to make it, though, I’m sure it’ll turn out delicious!
4. Chocolate Hazelnut Spelt Brioche Wreath
It has “wreath” in the name… so it definitely counts as a holiday recipe in my book! This would be a perfect sweet brunch to munch on while opening presents. Plus, I love the idea of using spelt to add an additional nutty flavour.
5. Apple Scones with Maple Cinnamon Glaze
These scones would be another great option to munch on during present time — or throughout the week when you want something with a coffee shop vibe but don’t want to leave the house. I love the cozy flavours!
6. Spiced Pear Baked French Toast
Baked French Toast is a perfect brunch recipe for when you don’t want to put in too much effort, but still want a delicious result — and the spiced pears really take this version to the next level!
7. Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Breakfast Croissant Ring
How tempting does this look? I wish I could break off a piece to enjoy right now! This would be another great holiday breakfast to bake ahead and leave to cook while you enjoyed some quality family time. It’s also one of the few savoury brunches on this list for those who aren’t in the mood for more sweets.
8. Cranberry White Chocolate Rolls
Another cranberry recipe, because I think they’re just perfect for winter! This would be a delicious recipe to prepare the night before and bake the day you want to eat them.
9. Fluffy Ricotta Pancakes with Rosemary Cream and Basic Blueberry Sauce
The sauces in this recipe really elevate them to the next level! I love the idea of incorporating rosemary cream as a topping — and I make blueberry sauce like this all the time for various pancakes too so I can see how this would be a great combo.
10. Easy Breakfast Skillet Recipe
Breakfast skillets are great for when you a) want to use up all the holiday leftovers in your fridge and b) not cook anything too elaborate when you’re worn out from holiday video calls! This breakfast skillet can be mad with as much or as little as you like.
11. Honey Eggplant Tartine
This is a unique recipe that is good for people who like to experiment in the kitchen — and as someone who loves eggplant and all forms of cheese, I’m down to try both combined!
12. Leftover Holiday Tea Sandwiches
These three recipes (yes, you get three in one!) are great to use up your holiday dinner leftovers in a fancy brunch format! This is great for the later half of your Christmas vacation (or holiday break) when you’ve already cooked a lot of food and just need to use it all up.
And there you have it: a dozen great recipes to enjoy throughout this lockdown holiday and beyond!
