15 Sweet Brunch Recipes to Keep Yourself Entertained During Social Distancing

Who else is missing brunch?

My usual routine on the weekends is waking up, getting dressed, and heading out to explore a new brunch spot in the city… and it’s probably the thing I’m missing the most about staying in.

However, there’s a bright side.

Being stuck inside is giving me the chance to try all sorts of new recipes at home — and some of them look just as delicious as what I’ve tried at restaurants.

So, I’ve decided to share a list of 15 sweet brunch recipes that you can make at home!

All the recipes are linked in the title so you can easily check out the ones you like.

And note that everything I’m sharing here is on the more decadent side — no simple muffins or oatmeal recipes here. We’re going all out in our own kitchens, just like we would if we were actually going out!

Ready? Let’s dive in.

1. Carrot Cake Waffles

The recipe that inspired this post (you can see my rendition at the top of this post!). It was delicious and so thick — I would definitely recommend trying it yourself!

2. Peach Bourbon Bread Pudding With Vanilla Bean

Doesn’t this recipe just scream summer? I love peaches, and am planning on getting some canned ones to make this recipe and enjoy them throughout our period of social distancing.

3. Rum & Raisin Sheet Pan Pancakes

Have you ever tried sheet pan pancakes? I haven’t, so I was immediately intrigued by this recipe. I can also imagine that a lot of us have raisins kicking around in our cupboards, so this is a great way to use them up!

4. Rice Pudding with Winter Spiced Berry Compote

Who else loves rice pudding? I used to make it all the time as a dessert, and seeing this recipe has inspired me to get back into it. Maybe this will be the next one I make…

5. Blackberry Pancakes with Brown Sugar Butter

This recipe is restaurant-worthy for sure! Such a delicious, thick stack.

6. Whipped Ricotta Toast with Lemon Thyme Honey

I wasn’t sure whether to add this to my sweet or my savoury brunch list (coming soon!) but I ended up adding it to the sweet list. The idea of whipped ricotta sounds delicious, and I think it could be made with a variety of different toppings.

7. Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes

I love the combination of lemon and poppy seeds in muffins, so why not in pancakes too? Plus, this recipe is vegan and gluten-free, so it’ll suit any dietary restrictions you may have.

8. Blueberry, Brie and Lemon Curd Grilled Cheese

I tried a waffle version of this at The Morning After and found it delicious — so I thought it would be a great option for recreating at home. And the addition of lemon curd… wow!

9. Strawberry Cheesecake Stuffed French Toast

Dessert for breakfast? Yes please. I would love to try stuffed French toast over this break as well — it’s so delicious on its own that I’m sure adding some cream cheese filling would make it even more delicious.

10. Almond Dutch Baby with Ricotta and Jam

Have you ever made a Dutch Baby? I haven’t. but I’m intrigued. Maybe it’s the perfect time to try…

11. Caramel Pecan Coffee Cake

This recipe seems like it would be perfect to serve alongside — what else? — a cup of coffee for a luxurious and leisurely brunch.

12. Extra Thick and Fluffy Japanese Style Pancakes

If you’re missing Hanabusa Cafe or Fuwa Fuwa Pancakes while in social isolation, why not try to make your own? I’m worried I wouldn’t be able to make them quite as fluffy, but I’m willing to try!

13. Homemade Monkey Bread

Yet another recipe I’ve never tried — have you? From what I can tell, Monkey Bread is basically just like pull-apart cinnamon roll bites… so yes, it’s on my list too.

14. Apple Pie Crepes

If thinner crepes are more your style rather than thick pancakes, check out this recipe! Plus, apples keep well in the fridge, so they’re great to stock up on when you’re staying at home.

15. French Toast Waffles

Love waffles AND french toast? Why not combine the two for one delicious brunch? (Plus, it seems like it would be super quick to make!)

And there you have it — a plethora of delicious recipes for you to try making at home since we can’t go out for brunch. I hope I’ve inspired you to try something new this weekend (or this week if you have the time!).
