15 Savory Brunch Ideas Perfect For a Weekend at Home
I’m back with another brunch roundup! This time, I focused on savory recipes, for those of you who aren’t quite as sweet as I am (kidding!).
What I’ve personally been doing through the weekends is making a sweet brunch one day and a savory one the other, so if you’re planning on doing the same, I hope these recipes come in helpful.
Now, without further ado… let’s get to the recipes!
1. Foolproof Shakshuka
I’m a sucker for shakshuka, especially since it’s a relatively easy recipe — all you have to do is let everything sit for a while! I also like how this recipe recommends baking it in the oven, since I find getting the consistency of the eggs right can be challenging when making it on the stove.
2. Huevos Rancheros
This is yet another classic brunch meal that I love. They’re relatively simple to make, and it’s easy to put your own spin on it depending on the spices and beans you like. (Plus, if you’re like me, you have a TON of beans in the cupboard right now, so it’s a good time to make them!)
3. Mini Ham And Cheese Quiches
A simple French classic — what’s not to love? I like how these quiches are little so that you can also eat them on the go (once we have somewhere to go, that is). If you’re vegetarian like I am, you could sub the ham for…. anything you want, really!
4. Sweet Potato Mushroom Skillet
I’m obsessed with my cast iron pan (yes, I’m one of those people) so I love skillets! And if you’re like me and feel like cooking the potatoes takes F-O-R-E-V-E-R, here’s a hot tip: boil them for a few minutes before tossing them in the skillet to cook so you don’t have to wait quite as long.
5. Swiss Chard, Goat Cheese and Leek Frittata
I liked the veggies in this one because they’re not ones I’d usually try! If you’re finding that your grocery store is also out of a lot of common veggies, maybe it’s time to branch out. (Or, just substitute the Swiss Chard for spinach and the leek for onions. Life is chaos.)
6. Nacho Hashbrown Casserole
If you’ve ever watched my stories on Instagram, you know that my default breakfast when I’m working from home usually revolves around Tater Tots… so as you can imagine, I jumped on this recipe!
7. Spanish Potato Tortilla
This recipe looks like the perfect idea for when you want to impress someone (or take some great Instagram photos of your meal) but don’t actually want to put too much work into it. I love the look of the layered potatoes on top!
8. Avocado Toast Four Ways
Which of these variations would you make first? Or would you put your own spin on it? Personally I’m leaning towards the one with tomatoes.
9. Dill Hollandaise Eggs Benedict, Two Ways
You can make this recipe vegetarian or not — and either way, it has dill, so it’s a win!
10. Foul Mudammas (Egyptian Fava Beans)
If you love Maha’s, you’ll love this dish! Serve it with flatbread or a side of potatoes as well as some salata baladi for the perfect Egyptian brunch experience.
11. Avocado Tomatillo Breakfast Tacos
Tacos are delicious any time of day, so why not make them part of your breakfast routine? Plus, I love spinach, so any recipe that incorporates both spinach and avocado is a yes from me.
12. Creamed Spinach Baked Eggs
Yes, more spinach! This is like the spinach equivalent of the tomato shakshuka I shared above — I’ve made it and similar recipes a few times, and I can confirm it’s delicious! I’d recommend adding a dash of cinnamon as well — I know it sounds strange, but trust me, it really adds something unique to the dish.
13. The Simple But Good Breakfast Bowl
This reminds me of the breakfast bowl at Impact Kitchen, which is both healthy and delicious. If you’re looking for something lighter for brunch, this is a great option.
14. Cheesy Oeufs en Cocotte
I had never heard of this recipe, but it looks a) easy and b) delicious (eggs and cheese? Heck yeah) so it’s definitely on my list now!
15. Breakfast Poutine
A classic Canadian breakfast, amirite? Also good if you have a lot of potatoes in the pantry!
Which recipe will you be making first? Let me know in the comments!
